General Summary
Mathews L. George, M.D., is a board certified physician at Texas Oncology in the El Paso region. Dr. George received his medical doctorate at Kasturba Medical College in India. He then completed a residency in internal medicine at the University Hospital of Wales in the United Kingdom where he specialized in medical oncology and palliative medicine as well as became a member of the Royal College of Physicians.
In 2004, Dr. George moved to the United States where he continued his medical training with a categorical medicine internship at the Medical College of Wisconsin and an internal medicine residency at Houston Methodist. He then completed a medical oncology fellowship at The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston followed by a palliative medicine fellowship at Marshfield Clinic in Wisconsin.
Prior to joining Texas Oncology, Dr. George established the medical oncology program at the Harlingen Veterans Affairs Clinic which provides cancer care for more than 50,000 U.S. veterans. After his tour, he established the medical oncology program at the Nacogdoches Medical Center.
Dr. George enjoys music, photography, cooking, and spending time with his wife, who is a practicing neurologist, as well as his three children, who are all currently medical school students.
